Facade work is getting close to completion on my 1871 Second Empire Cottage in the Knox Hill neighborhood of Cincinnati Ohio. It was in dreadfull condition when we bought it having been vacant almost 3 years, BUT only two families owned it from 1871 to 2000!  We constructed a new period design porch and square bay window. Ive included a "before" picture to show how far we have come in the few months we owned it.

Few know this, but Cincinnati has the largest collection of Second Empire Architecture in the midwest. There are thousands of small cottages like mine throughout the city (in various levels of finish) as well as 2 and 3 story detatched and double townhomes, as well as high end mansions. All told ,I've calculated there are close to 10000 Second Empire Structures remaining in the city. Trully a "gold mine' to anyone that appreciates this style.

We hope to finish up exterior work on our cottage before cold weather hits so we can work on interior wallpapers and finishes.

Here's what it looks like without having to turn your head sideways. It's pretty easy to rotate a picture (on your computer) before posting it & makes it a lot easier to view.
