John and I have both posted under the Cowans Auction topic, our willingness to provide eyes on site for Rare Victorian members at certain auctions---wonder if a "go to" spot on the Rare Victorian site for people to post what auctions they would provide "eyes on site" would be of use? ??? I think it would...the strings John and I have posted under the Cowan's topic will quickly get buried for other members as new topics and such emerge---having a living spot for ref. for other members to volunteer their services for onsite inspections or for members to take them up on that offer, might prove very valuable. ;D Just wondering what you think about that idea Rare and other members. Thanks for continuing to provide the BEST victorian site on the net!!!! Charles
Thanks, Charles, for the compliment on the site. Wait til you see RareVictorian 2.0. I'm working on a revamp of the site and it's looking cool. The best thing you all can do for us is to spread the word about RareVictorian to your friends and fellow Victorian acquaintances. The more of us there are, the more collaboration we'll have in the forums, the more eyes we'll have at auctions, the more people we'll have commenting on the blog and sharing their wisdom, the more people we'll have to share photos with us, etc. I don't ever have the fear that we'll get too big not to have relationships here as we do, so I don't fear that. Our niche is a small one :D
Let me think on your idea, as I believe it is a good one. I'm just not yet tuned into where to facilitate it. Do we do it under "Auction Watch" by posting new topics, like "I'm at Cowan's on xx date", or do we start up an entirely separate board for it? How do we deal with the problem of "Charles said it looked good but when I got it...."
Thoughts welcome.

All good points Rare---especially the part where "Charles said it looked good but....almost think that if we do something like this, it should be either under the auctions header or as a standalone portal---thanks for responding and again, keep up the great work for all of us! Charles.
I have another idea for you...
Perhaps our profile listings, or something similar, can include a "wish list" or some such thing. For example, my wife and I have a nebulous idea as to what our next antique furniture purchase should be (bookcase). We even occasionally talk about what our Top 5 "next purchase priorities" are. It might be nice if other folks knew what I'm looking for, and vice versa, should any bargains jump out at anybody. I could keep an eye out for specific toys while looking over auction catalogs, for example.
Thank you,
Jason

I like the concept Jason...Charles.
There is a "Personal Text" field in your profile, which you can edit yourself any time. If you now look at my name/image, you'll see what I'm looking for ;)
Pretty neat...just testing this for myself.
Thank you,

And yes, as you discovered, the signature line is also a good spot for that.
Ah Hah! pretty neat little thing there! I like that!
