We bought this ebonized Japanesque 5 piece parlor suite on September 6, 1997 - the day of Princess Diana's funeral - at an antiques show near Toronto. It had just come of a truck from Brimfield and so I am pretty sure it's American and not Canadian. Does anyone know who the maker could have been? Value?

p.s. The larger gentleman's chair is not pictured with the other peices as it is located in a different room. We had the large /pouff made.

Nice!!
I can't help but think American, east coast, probably New York, but mid-Atlantic. Aesthetic, ca. 1880. Herter or Kimball & Cabus come to mind. Or one of their imitators ;)
I'm not qualified to give an estimate as to value, but in the midwest most parlor sets, even beautiful ones like this, don't bring as much as one might hope. Less than 5K. Of course in the east - and I assume, Canada - things go higher.
