A little work going on in the parlor. We removed the old wallpaper, primed the plaster, filled the holes and cracks, primed again, then added lining paper to smooth out the walls a bit more, then primed and painted in a color to blend with the background color of the wallpaper, in case the seams open up It will help hide them. A lot of prep, but will make it a lot easier when it comes time to repaper. Also cleaning and finishing the oak woodwork. They originally used coal to heat with and there was a lot of crusty coal dust in the old finishthat had to be cleaned out. Now the quartersawn oak really shines with the gloss finish. It should tone down a little, and if it dosent, a coat of semigloss will do it. First pic is after the wallpaper was stripped. The left door is an exterior door that was faux grained to resemble the oak. It had faded very badly due to a lot of sunlight in this room. We used a stain finish combo first to bring the colors inline with the rest of the room.Last pic is the peacock wallpaper. It will have a border and frieze, and the ceiling will be papered also but I`m not sure what she has picked out right now.

This is a mockup Christie did of the room. We found this neat eastlake parlor set at an estate sale fo less than 200.00 and also got another set and several other peices at the same auction.

Looks good! I like the color combination your going for. Your not kidding about the shine on the woodwork!
Finished product, 30s sofa and chair, softer look,

Mind sharing with us who made the wallpaper & ceiling paper?  I'm not aiming to steal your look, but I'm always curious about wallpaper patterns.

Beautiful work, by the way!

Thank you,

Jason
