Hi.  Just found this cabinet.  Anyone have any opinions on origin.  New York???  Interior is all birds eye maple.  Secondary construction is a soft wood, as I can dent it with my fingernail.  I think spruce.  No oak in the secondary construction.  It is 58'' high by 77'' long by 24'' deep.  Gilt is original.  I appreciate any opinions.  Thanks

Yes, I would say New York, but who?  Who knows.  I was not unable to match any significant portions to any known piece with a named maker.
BTW, I would consider this more to be Ren Revival, Neo-Grec than Aesthetic - it has Corinthian capitals, palmettes, gilded fluting, Acanthus scrolls, papyrus, Renaissance-style rosettes, etc.
Definitely Renaissance Revival. Is this beauty for sale?
Hi.  Yes, you are right it is more renaissance than aesthetic.  I also tried to find a likeness and the closest I could come was a piece by pottier and stymus.  It had the same ebonized columns bronze capitols and the lions masks and maidens head all in the same places.  Also, nearly identical door panels and birds eye maple interior.  It was a bit smaller without the stepped top and front, but really looked identical in the layout and use of the elements.  Apparently they almost never signed anything.  So like you said who knows.  I love the piece and I guess that is all that really matters.  Thanks for your time and response.

Kevin:  It is a piece I want to keep, so it is not for sale right now.  I will keep your user name though and drop you a line if I ever decide to part with it.  I have a clock set I have been saving for just a piece like this.  Now I am off to knock out a wall and make some room for it.....
