Hello--

I have recently acquired this small Ren Revival parlor cabinet.
I am hoping someone can help identify its' maker. I am also including
a picture of a larger cabinet which sold at Neal auctions several
years back. It appears that both cabinets were made by the same manufacturer
as many of the details are the same/similar and the single door is
essentially identical except for size. The Neal cabinet is certainly
larger then mine but I am still happy with my find!

Does anyone have a picture they can post of this same cabinet
which would show the top "crest?"  I feel it must be relatively small as
their are no holes in the back of the piece which would
have "held" the crest on to the piece. It also appears it was simply
glued to the top as there are no nail holes. As you can see from the pictures, the finish
and gilding needs some help, but  it has all the elements that I like
and with some patient and hard work should clean up nicely.

Beautiful cabinet! I'm convinced this is by the same maker as the Neal Auctions' piece. The door panels and incised lines are identical. It seems most of the high-end NYC makers mixed and matched various elements to customize essentially the same size cabinet. While I do not think it is by Herter Bros.,  Alexander Roux, or Pottier & Stymus would certainly seem possible. Was the maker of the Neal piece identified? Congratulations on a wonderful find.
Thanks Vintrest,

Thanks for your congratulations-- I am pleased too as it is a very
aesthetically pleasing to the eye piece!

Yes, am convinced too that both cabinets are by the same maker.
No, I do not remember any provenance made on the Neal auction piece.
I suppose i'd like to know the maker, but am really more interested
in finding an identical cabinet to get a picture of the missing crown piece
so I can either make it or have a professional wood carver do the job.
I have had some good luck re-creating other wood pieces, but this
may be out of my league.

Your suggestion about Roux? I cannot say I have seen much Roux
which fits this form, as they usually seem to be more "rococcoesque." (new word!)
P&S is a possibility but really don't know. Appreciate your thoughts.

Greetings-

I have found the following picture of my parlor cabinet.
Interesting top, although partially hidden by the the
glassware. I must say I had expected something a bit different.
I am still searching for more pictures so please forward if
you have one. Thanks!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!

not been posted as I do not wish to infringe on anothers
work. The original picture is in a well known book on Victoriana.
