Nice Bed! It is primarily in the Rococo Revival style which was popular in the U.S. between about 1850 and 1870. The wood of choice during that period was usually Black walnut with pricey and rare Rosewood being reserved for the highest end pieces-your's appears to be walnut with walnut burl veneered panels. As for a maker, I can't say, although many beds of this kind were often made by smaller local factories and shops during this period. Others on the forum with major maker's catalogs may be able to attribute this bed to a specific maker, but I cannot. Keep the finish original to preserve value. Together with a full bedroom suite, it would be quite valuable, but it is still collectible by itself.
