Here's one that should give RV readers a chuckle and shows how easy it is to throw a name on virtually anything. Here's a chair currently on ebay that is "attributed to Herter Brothers" - not sure how they came up with that one - but it sure wasn't from spending much time in the research department. http://tinyurl.com/ct89od

They have the wrong dates, too. No way 1880s.
It boggles my mind that, simultaneously, someone would put "Herter Brothers" on a piece and a $525 price tag.

Agreed it's an oxymoron: Herter Brothers chair - BIN $525. It would be a steal for a Herter Bros. chair - but certainly not for that chair.

Who would want any chair that wasn't desirable? I haven't seen many Herter chairs sell for under $500. I went to www.liveauctioneers.com and searched for "Herter Brothers Chair" - it showed 46 chairs sold from 2003 - present. Only (3) sold for under $500. - several chairs looked as much like Herter as this one.
I couldn't sign in to see what each chair sold for. I have been having trouble getting the "sign in" to work for me for quite a while @ liveauctioneers.com. Frequently even the pictures don't blow up/ enlarge when clicked on for me now. It has worked fine in the past - but lately I can't get it to work - don't know why. I have tried using both Internet Explorer & Mozilla Firefox browsers (a little better results w/ Firefox - but still doesn't allow sign in). Anyone else having problems w/ signing in on that site? or have any advice to make it work? I would love to be able to see the sale prices on searched items. woodwright

I just logged out/in with no problem and saw all the prices on all the "Herter" chairs. Maybe clear your cookies/cache.
no problems here signing in at liveauctions either, must be something wrong on your end.
It took me a while - but I figured out my problem was my new firewall. If I disable it everything works fine. Thanks for the input.
