Hi!
Two Victorian homes in Independence, MO (Kansas City area) that are open for tours are the Bingham-Waggoner Mansion (owned at one point by George Caleb Bingham, famous 19th century American artist and Missouri politician) see http://www.bwestate.org/ and http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-2991721-bingham_waggoner_estate_independence-i The second one is the Vaile Mansion, a huge, mind-bending Second Empire masterpiece that is over the top in every way-see http://www.vailemansion.org/. Another Victorian home in Independence worth seeing is President Truman's house. It had very well-preserved thick leather-looking wall coverings the time I toured it--see http://www.nps.gov/hstr/. Also, check out Independence Square--it used to be a good antiquing area and I think it still may be!
Thanks!
