Hi all.  I fell in love with this couch/chair set and am trying to find out more about it.  It needs recovering, and appears to have been recovered at least once, though quite some time ago.

The seller bought it from an antique store 15 years ago, but had no idea of the origin of the pieces.  If anybody can provide any tips for identifying if it's a reproduction or authentic piece, I would appreciate it.

Can you send some higher-resolution images to [email removed]?  8kb images do not provide much detail to examine.  Thanks.
Sure!  Just sent some larger pics to you.  Let me know if you need better detail pics and I can take some.  There is also a matching coffee table with an inlaid flower design.

I appreciate your help/input.
I've found similar pieces online here:  http://www.trocadero.com/stores/timelessantiques/items/640797/en1store.html

and here: http://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/atq/1522518671.html

The differences that I can see, with an untrained eye, is that the carvings of these pieces are more detailed than in my furniture.  Mine is more rounded and less intricate.

Here are the larger photos to contemplate...

The more I explore the forum, I realize I may have posted this in the wrong board.

At any rate, it's had lots of views and little replies, so maybe nobody is familiar with it?  Here's another similar set, the coffee table base with this set is identical to mine, though the couch carvings are different.  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320465969777&_trksid=p2759.l1259

I also posted pictures at allexperts and got this reply.

1920s, the wood is likely sweet gum stained dark originally to resemble walnut.  very high styled.  looks like a sofa i did for a shop in east texas about 20 years ago.  but this looks to have an old finish on it, the table top has been redone at some time.

it is colonial revival, which means pieces that were made to replicate and conjure things and feelings of the past in our country.  there is no way to determine the manufacturer or local.  there were tens of thousands of manufacturers in operation.  if there was a label then we could go forward with that.

the style is as most furniture, a mixture of styles, strong chippendale influence, french, victorian and more.

great style combination of styles, form, design, and all, nothing to aploogize for here!!!

forgot to mention that the table top wood is indian mahogany or sapelle veneer with mixed veneers in the design, great work!!
