I saw this in a local antiques shop today. It is a sofa and 2 armchairs and 2 side chairs. It’s rosewood and very good quality. I’m thinking Pottier and Stymus, maybe Herter, but a good maker and more than likely New York, any thoughts?…

Nice find!  Woodwork and plaques look great, upholstery is awful.  Makes me wonder if there is something on the settee and chair backs that has been covered up?  Any castors?  The pawed feet are reminiscent of William Vanderbilt's chair by Herter Brothers but other makers used similar ones as well.  I'm sure someone here will know more.  Good luck!
Hey Monke,

I too thought there may be more wood on the back covered up by that awful upholstery. The castors (where present, some are missing) are wooden, NOT India comb rubber.. I'm thinking P&S but its a nice set, wood is good with some minor issues. Y'ad have to put a lot of money in it to being it up to showroom condition though!
